Open-Source Wireless Integration
Security Professional
Secure Wireless Deployment & Administration
Description:
The internationally-accredited OSWiSP secure wireless deployment training programme teaches a vendor-independent approach to practical and secure deployment, maintenance, administration and monitoring of both private and public Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) based on the PRACTICAL WIRELESS DEPLOYMENT METHODOLOGY (PWDM), a peer-reviewed, open-source methodology.
Using open-source applications and tools, and developed by wireless security experts with real-world, large-scale WLAN deployment experience (e.g. Changi International Airport Terminals 1 & 2, Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre and others), this lab-based programme equips participants with the knowledge, awareness and skills necessary to successfully deploy and interconnect a secure WLAN in any environment, for any type and size of organization. This is accomplished by following the PWDM framework, which offers comprehensive coverage of not just the technical aspects of WLAN implementation, but also of practical areas which impact WLAN operational security and deployment such as building-management relations, site survey, project scoping, cable-plant management, post-deployment monitoring and operations, etc.
The OSWiSP is extremely heavy on practical coursework, providing in-depth technical coverage of 802.11 security issues and hands-on coursework on how to deploy all manner of 802.11i-based setups (WEP, WPA-PSK, WPA/2), as well as integrating them with VPNoL for multilayer-defense WLAN deployments.
Additionally, unlike other wireless "administrator only"-type courses in the market today, the OSWiSP not only covers 802.11, a technology which the participant is most likely to encounter on a regular basis, but also introduces participants to security issues with other wireless technologies such as RFID, Bluetooth.
Simply put, participants will come away with the following:
a top-to-bottom practical understanding of the real-life issues facing any type of wireless deployment
the ability to advise their organizations about the various security wireless security risks and how to mitigate them
the skills to build, upgrade and integrate a private or public WLAN of varying security levels into any existing network without just relying on vendor-equipment-specific security features
the skills to set up and maintain a monitoring and management overlay to manage the WLAN post-deployment
Who Can Benefit From This Programme:
IT Professionals who will benefit from this programme include the following:
Security Analysts / Consultants
Network Designers
Network Deployment Project Managers
Network Administrators
System Administrators
IT Managers
IT Engineers
and anyone who is involved in the design, deployment and/or operation of a WLAN.
