Organizational Systems Security Analyst
Enterprise Security Certification
Description:
The Organizational Systems Security Analyst (OSSA) is our internationally-accredited practical and technical IT-security certification programme that teaches IT professionals how to secure an enterprise networks and systems. It is designed specially for 3 broad groups of people:
IT-Security Professionals looking for practical and hands-on technical security training & certification which is applicable to any private- or public-sector Enterprise-class organization;
IT Professionals who are looking to get into the IT-Security industry; and
Those looking for Enterprise-relevant IT-Security training with practical lab-based exams and certification that will stand the test of time, unlike courses with theory-only exams.
With its emphasis on the use of Open-Source-based methodologies and tools to achieve the objective of network-, application- and Windows/Linux/Unix server-level security for organizations, the vendor-neutral OSSA teaches a wide-ranging and vendor-independent approach to real-world planning, operational and legal issues surrounding IT-Security which both profit and non-profit organizations will encounter.
This practical 5-day, hands-on security certification course is geared at equipping participants with the knowledge and practical technical skills necessary to secure their organizations from both internal and external threats, as well as understanding the impact of law on IT-Security policy and operationswithin the organization.
Unlike “hacking” courses which typically focus on tools which can become ineffective very fast in the real world, the OSSA looks at security from a methodological perspective and draws lessons from Sun Tzu's "Art of War", introducing the practicalities of IT Security, and not just theory.
Taught only by certified and accredited trainers, the OSSA includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:
Learning About CIA
The SOB Triad
Network 101
Security Policy Overview
Defending Your Turf: This LANd is Mine
Building A Secure Enterprise Network
Defensive Tools & System Lockdown
The 5E Attacker Methodology: Attacker Methods & Exploits
Wireless Insecurity
Incident Response
System Forensics and Investigation
The Impact of Law
This course is extremely heavy on practical coursework and certification is awarded on the basis of a practical, lab-based certification exam, which is held on the last day of the course. The exam can also be taken separately during the next class run, by prior arrangement.
The importance of a lab-based certification examination cannot be overstated!
Only a practical lab-based examination, where the attendee must apply the methodology learnt during training and use various tools to perform actual actions and commands to obtain the result, can help employers verify the true skill and capability of a security professional.
Unlike many low-end "hacking" courses, the OSSA does not rely on a theory-based non-practical exam which allows pretenders to bluff their way to certification through simple memory work and cram sessions. The OSSA's practical lab-based examination practically validates the skills that course attendees acquire, preserves the long term value of the certification, and protects the investment made by attendees and their companies in getting certified.
